Why TRUECORE® steel
Peace of mind, built in.
TRUECORE® steel is made in Australia by BlueScope, then detailed and rolled into frames for your home here in Wagga.
Termites can’t touch it
100% termite and borer proof, with no chemical treatment. Worth knowing, because home insurance usually doesn’t cover termite damage.
50-year warranty
BlueScope backs TRUECORE® steel with a 50-year warranty for eligible residential homes.*
Straight for good
Steel won’t twist, warp or shrink, which means fewer sticking doors and windows, and straighter walls and roof lines.
Won’t catch fire
Steel is non-combustible, so the frame itself won’t add fuel to a fire.
Room for more insulation
Our 150 mm frames fit up to an R4.1 wall batt, with deep window reveals and tall ceilings.
Made down the road
Detailed and rolled in East Wagga by locals, so your builder has someone close by to call.
*The 50-year warranty is offered by BlueScope for residential applications only and is subject to application and eligibility criteria. See bluescopesteel.com.au/warranties.
How to get steel in your home
It starts with one question.

Get in touchSteel myths, busted
Heard something about steel frames?
Steel frames are well established in Australia’s cities, but they’re still new to a lot of people out here. Here are the questions we hear most, with sources so you can check for yourself.
Myth: it creaks
Don’t steel houses creak and tick?+
The ticking people notice in a home usually comes from the roof, not the frame. Metal roof sheeting expands as it heats up in the sun and slips slightly at its fixings. Lysaght says it’s normal and doesn’t cause damage.
Most new Wagga homes already have a steel roof on steel battens, whatever the frame is made of.
Myth: it moves
Doesn’t steel move around?+
TRUECORE® steel frames won’t twist, warp or shrink as they age. That’s what helps avoid sticking windows, jammed doors and wavy roof lines down the track.

Myth: it’s cold
Aren’t steel-framed homes colder?+
Every new home has to meet the same National Construction Code energy rules. For steel frames, NCC 2022 requires a thermal break of at least R0.2 where external cladding and internal lining are fixed directly to the same frame member, to stop heat moving through the steel.
Want extra warmth? Our 150 mm frames have room for up to an R4.1 wall batt.
Myth: it rusts
Won’t a steel frame rust?+
TRUECORE® steel has BlueScope’s Activate® coating to resist corrosion, and BlueScope backs it with a 50-year warranty for eligible homes.*

Myth: lightning
Is a steel frame safe in a storm?+
Yes. BlueScope says lightning has minimal effect on a steel frame, and that correctly installed steel frames are electrically safe because they’re earthed.

Myth: termites are covered
Doesn’t insurance cover termites anyway?+
Usually not. Most home insurance policies exclude termite damage. TRUECORE® steel is 100% termite and borer proof, so the frame isn’t on the menu.

Myth: it’s slower
Will steel slow my build down?+
Your frames are detailed to your plans and made in our factory, then delivered labelled and ready to stand. They come pre-punched for services, so the electrician and plumber don’t need to drill through the frame. And we have a network of experienced local installers if your builder wants a hand.

Myth: it costs more
Isn’t steel more expensive?+
Steel is competitively priced against timber, especially when you compare the whole kit. Our price includes the engineering, fixings and delivery. Ask your builder to get a frame price from us alongside timber, so you can compare like for like.
