Why steel, why now
Proven in the cities. Time to give it a crack.
Most Riverina builders grew up with timber, and that’s fair enough. But steel frames are now standard on metro building sites, and the reasons stack up just as well out here. If you’ve been thinking about trying steel, we’ll make the switch easy.
- ✓Come and see the factory. Drop in to East Wagga, watch your frames being rolled and talk through your next job with the team.
- ✓We’ll talk you through it. From your first set of plans to standing the frames, we’ll walk you through every step.
- ✓A network of installers. We work with a network of experienced local installers who can stand the frames for you, or work alongside your crew on your first job.

Why TRUECORE® steel
Built straight. Stays straight.
TRUECORE® steel is made in Australia by BlueScope, then fabricated into your frames here in Wagga.
50-year warranty
BlueScope backs TRUECORE® steel with a 50-year warranty for eligible residential homes.*
Termite & borer proof
100% termite and borer proof, without insecticide treatments.
Straight & true
Won’t twist, warp or shrink, so flatter walls and ceilings, fewer sticking doors and fewer callbacks.
Won’t catch fire
Non-combustible steel, and suitable for building in bushfire-prone areas when designed to the NASH standard.
Light but strong
A high strength-to-weight ratio for long spans and open-plan layouts, and easy for your crew to handle.
Pre-punched for services
Service holes punched in the factory, so electricians and plumbers rough in faster.
*The 50-year warranty is offered by BlueScope for residential applications only and is subject to application and eligibility criteria. See bluescopesteel.com.au/warranties.

Steel myths, busted
Heard the one about steel?
The questions we hear from builders, and the ones your clients will ask you. Sources included, so you can check for yourself.
Myth: it’s slower
Won’t steel slow my crew down?+
Frames arrive detailed to your plans, labelled and ready to stand, with no cutting on site. They’re pre-punched for services, so your sparky and plumber don’t drill through studs. For your first job, we can connect you with an installer from our network to stand the frames or work alongside your crew.

Myth: it creaks
Won’t my clients hear it creak and tick?+
Myth: compliance headaches
What about energy ratings and NCC 2022?+
Steel frames meet the same energy rules as any new home. NCC 2022 requires a thermal break of at least R0.2 where external cladding and internal lining are fixed directly to the same steel member. Talk to us about detailing it on your job.
Need to lift the wall rating? Our 150 mm frames take up to an R4.1 wall batt.
Myth: it moves
Doesn’t steel move around?+
TRUECORE® steel won’t twist, warp or shrink, so you get straighter walls and ceilings, fewer sticking doors and fewer callbacks.

Myth: it rusts
Won’t a steel frame rust?+
TRUECORE® steel has BlueScope’s Activate® corrosion-resistant coating, and BlueScope backs it with a 50-year warranty for eligible homes.* That’s a strong line in your client conversations.

Myth: lightning and wiring
Is it safe with lightning and electrics?+
BlueScope says lightning has minimal effect on a steel frame, and that correctly installed steel frames are electrically safe because they’re earthed. Your electrician will look after earthing as part of the install.

A selling point
Why would my clients care about termites?+
Most home insurance policies don’t cover termite damage. TRUECORE® steel is 100% termite and borer proof, with no chemical treatment. It’s an easy reason for clients to say yes.

Myth: it costs more
Isn’t steel dearer than timber?+
Compare the complete kit. Timber prices may not include all your site accessories, but ours do: detailing, engineering, ICCONS® fixings, hold-downs, bracing and delivery. Send us your plans and compare it like for like.
